In Bern you will find accommodation for any budget. But, like in the capital, a lot of business events are held here, so you need to book a hotel in advance. But the whole city is neatly built on a small square, so it will be relatively easy to get to any part of it.

In general, the old town built on the peninsula is so compact that everything is literally "around the corner": almost all hotels , more than 150 restaurants, the biggest shops, the main attractions, the parliament building and even the weekly farm fair

So Altstadt or the Old Town is on a high rocky plateau that is located in the bend of the Aare River. Most of the major hotels and attractions are located in this area. From here you can stroll through the main streets of Bern: Spitalgasse, Marktgasse, Kramgasse and Gerechtigkeitsgasse.

The main square of the city is the Theater Square with its famous Clock Tower (Zytgloggeturm), Kornhausplatz square with Ogre fountain and the Town Hall Square, where the cantonal government building is located. Cross the river in this place you can by one of the picturesque bridges. It is these parts of the city that you should choose when booking a hotel in Bern - otherwise you will have to get to popular attractions either by public transport or on foot, but at least 15-20 minutes.
